I voted weeks ago, proudly affixing a Harvey Milk stamp on my absentee ballot envelope. It was a reminder that even in times of darkness, we still manage to find light and move forward. And so today I’m going to keep in mind all the moments of human kindness I’ve witnessed over the last few weeks, in spite of the louder ambient ugliness and fury. The man who gave up his aisle seat so that a young family could sit together. The waitress who knew I was feeling down and made me a special drink – and refused to let me pay for it. The times when cars stop to let pedestrians cross, when people hold open doors for one another. I’m going to stay in that realm, knowing we’re capable of goodness and hoping it prevails today. #pleasevote
