Some of you asked why I abandoned TNNA for San Francisco this week. We came here to put a very dear friend to rest, which happened yesterday not too far from this spot. He was one of those brilliant, grizzled curmudgeons with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes and a raucous joke always at the ready. His wife of 70 years lies just inside the bridge. They lived an incredibly full life, and it felt right for them to be together again.
