Every morning a team of us comes in early to listen to the weather radio and write up that day’s forecast. This is not my artistry (the ‍ goes to @desivt) but I did listen intently and contribute to the “wait, was that 16?” fact checking. Then came a day of hair-raising drills that included approaching docks, approaching moorings with dinghies, heaving to (yes that’s a thing), and rescuing a pretend man overboard, who I named Bob and to whom I apologized profusely each time I missed his mark.
