Strawberry vanilla twist. At the other window, a tiny, frail older woman gleefully ordered a clam basket with onion rings. Her son wore boat shoes and pink Bermuda shorts with little lobsters embroidered on them. Heading back to the car, I tried to find the stump where a giant pine tree once stood by the edge of the water. It had a table built around it, which we thought was the coolest thing when I was growing up. My brothers insisted they had flown over at night on jetpacks and sawed the tree in half before sliding the table in and plunking the treetop back in place. It’s hard to believe we had actual arguments about whether or not that really happened. Anyway, the tree stump is gone, but the legend remains. #legendsofsoftservelandia
